# Page Builder Overview

Learn how to navigate the Page Builder, customize your Action Pages, save changes, and identify which features are available for each page type.

The **Page Builder** is where you customize the content, design, and settings of your Donation, Event, and Lead Pages. Use the editing panels on the left to configure your page and the preview on the right to see how it will appear to supporters.

This guide explains how to access and navigate the Page Builder, save your changes, and identify which features are available for each page type.

## Before You Begin

* To save changes, you need **Action Pages: Edit permissions**.
* Users who can view Action Pages but not edit them can open and preview the Page Builder, but they can't save. The Page Builder shows a View-only access notice.

## Open the Page Builder

To open an existing page in the Page Builder:

1. Go to **Action Pages > Pages**.
2. Locate the page you want to edit.
3. Open the Page Builder using either option:
   1. **Page Name:** Click the page name.
   2. **More Options (•••):** Click the More Options (•••) menu on the right side of the page row, then select Edit.

The Page Builder opens on that page. The page name and URL show at the top of the left panel. Click the pencil next to them to open **Details**, where you can change the internal page name and the Page URL slug.

Changing the Page URL Slug will invalidate any previously shared links to the Action Page. If the page has already been shared publicly, be sure to update those links with the new URL.

## How the Page Builder Is Organized

The left navigation groups the panels. Which panels you see depends on the page type.

Lead Pages are non-financial pages and do not accept payments; they do not include Finance settings.

## Save Your Changes

Your changes stay in the Page Builder until you click **Save**, and they go live in real-time.

To save your changes:

1. Make your changes in one or more panels.
2. Click **Save**.

The message "Action page saved." appears. Donors see the updated page the next time they load it.

* **Save** is unavailable until you change something.
* On screens narrower than 1024 pixels, **Save** sits in a bar directly under the panel tabs.
* Use **Undo** and **Redo** to step back and forward through changes you haven't saved yet.
* If you try to leave with unsaved changes, an **Unsaved changes** dialog asks you to choose **Stay** or **Leave without saving**.

If you change the Page URL slug and save, links that use the old slug stop working. Update any links you've already shared.

## Presets

The **Form**, **Receipt** and **Settings** panels let you reuse a saved setup, called a preset, across pages.

* **Save as Preset** saves the panel's current setup as a named preset.
* **Update Preset** changes the preset itself, so every page that uses it changes.
* **Apply to pages…** applies the preset to the pages you select.

Changes made using **Save as Preset**, **Update Preset**, or **Apply to pages** take effect immediately without clicking **Save**. Updating an existing preset also updates every page using that preset. Clicking the regular **Save** button only saves changes to the current page.

## Share Your Page

Click **Share** in the toolbar to copy the page link, copy the embed code, or download a QR code. Share is unavailable until you fix any issues on the page and save a changed Page URL. See [Share An Action Page](/action-pages/action-page-basics/share-an-action-page.md).
