# Giving Amounts and Frequencies

Set donation frequencies, suggested amounts, a pre-selected amount, and the Other amount option in Finance > Giving of the Page Builder.

**Giving** sets what donors can give on your page: how often they can give and the suggested amounts they can choose. You'll find it in the Page Builder under **Finance > Giving**. This article covers donation frequencies, suggested amounts, and the event giving setting.

{% hint style="info" %}
Giving is available on Donation Pages and Event Pages. Lead Pages don't take donations, so they don't have Giving.
{% endhint %}

## Open Giving

To open Giving:

1. Go to **Action Pages > Pages**.
2. Hover over the page you want to edit.
3. Click **⋮ > Edit**.
4. Select **Finance > Giving**.

## Set Donation Frequencies

On Donation Pages, **Donation frequencies** controls whether donors can give once, on a recurring schedule, or both. New pages start with One-time and Monthly.

The available frequencies are:

* One-time
* Weekly
* Bi-weekly
* Monthly
* Quarterly
* Semi-annually
* Annually

You can turn on up to four at once, and at least one must stay on.

{% hint style="warning" %}
If you turn off One-time, every donation on the page becomes a recurring gift. Keep One-time on if donors should be able to give once.
{% endhint %}

When One-time and exactly one recurring frequency are on, you can turn on **Use checkbox for recurring option**. Donors then see a single checkbox, such as "Make this a monthly gift," instead of frequency buttons. Enter a **Recurring message** to replace the checkbox text.

## Add Suggested Amounts

**Amount presets** are the suggested amounts donors can tap on the form. New pages start with $25, $50, $100 and $200.

To set up suggested amounts:

1. Under **Amount presets**, add, edit or remove amounts. You can have up to 12 per frequency.
2. (Optional) Add a description to an amount.
3. (Optional) Turn on **Pre-select** for the amount the form should start on. Only one amount per frequency can be pre-selected.
4. (Optional) Give one amount the **Popular** label to highlight it.
5. Turn **Allow custom Other amount** on or off.
6. Click **Save**.

The form shows your suggested amounts the next time donors load the page.

* **Allow custom Other amount:** When on, donors can type their own amount. When off, they can only choose a suggested amount.
* **Use the same suggested amounts for every frequency:** When on, one list applies to every frequency. Turn it off to give each frequency its own list, for example higher one-time amounts and lower monthly amounts.

{% hint style="info" %}
A link that sets an amount, such as one using a URL parameter, overrides the pre-selected amount. See [URL Parameters](/action-pages/advanced-features/url-parameter.md).
{% endhint %}

## Event Giving

On Event Pages, Giving starts with **Event giving**. Turn on **Accept donations for all ticket purchase types** to let supporters add a donation when they buy tickets.

When this setting is off, the rest of Giving is hidden and supporters can't add a donation. Turning it off also turns off **Require a donation for free tickets** in the Event panel. Event Pages don't have donation frequencies; every ticket purchase is a one-time payment.

## Fundraising Goal

Donation Pages also show **Fundraising goal** in Giving. See [Goals](/action-pages/advanced-features/goals.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.anedot.com/action-pages/page-builder/giving-amounts-and-frequencies.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
