# Payouts

Match bank deposits in Finance > Payouts. See each payout's status and the transactions it included, and learn how deposit schedules and returns work.

**Payouts** lists each deposit Anedot sends to your bank and each debit taken from it. One transfer from your Anedot balance can create more than one payout, and they share the same **Transfer ID**. Go to **Finance > Payouts** to review payouts, see what a deposit included, and reconcile it with your bank statement.

## Before You Begin

* **Permissions:** Your role needs **Transactions: View permissions**, found under **Finance** in [Permission Sets](/settings/access/permission-sets.md). Otherwise, **Finance > Payouts** is disabled in the menu.
* **Bank account:** Payouts go to the bank accounts in **Settings > Bank Accounts**. See [Bank Accounts](/settings/finance/bank-accounts.md).

## How Payouts Work

Anedot transfers your balance to your bank on each bank account's **Deposit Schedule**: **Every 2 days**, **Weekly**, or **Monthly**. Automatic transfers start just after midnight in your account's time zone. Your bank may take a few business days to post the deposit.

* Your **Balance** in Transactions and Entries is the net amount collected since your last payout. It resets after each payout.
* Refunds, voids, chargebacks, and ACH returns come out of your balance right away.
* If refunds are more than your new gifts, your balance can go negative, and the difference may be taken from your bank account on your next scheduled transfer.

## Change Your Deposit Schedule

You need **Bank Accounts: Edit permissions** to change a deposit schedule.

To change a deposit schedule:

1. Go to **Settings > Bank Accounts**.
2. Edit the bank account.
3. Review the **Current Schedule**.
4. Under **Deposit Schedule**, choose **Every 2 days**, **Weekly**, or **Monthly**.
5. Save your changes.

You can also choose a **Deposit Schedule** when you add a bank account. For 1-day deposits, contact our Support team. See [Bank Accounts](/settings/finance/bank-accounts.md).

## What You'll See in Payouts

* **Payout ID:** The payout's ID. Click it to see the transactions in that payout.
* **Transfer ID:** Shared by every payout from the same transfer.
* **Date:** When the payout was created.
* **Bank details:** The bank account the payout went to or came from.
* **Status:** Where the payout is: **Ready**, **Sent**, **Rejected**, **Returned**, or **Notification of change**.
* **Direction:** **Credit** for money sent to your bank, or **Debit** for money taken out.
* **Type:** **Net revenue**, **Gross revenue**, **Anedot fees**, or **Vendor fees** with the vendor's name.
* **Amount:** The amount credited or debited.

## See What a Payout Included

To see which transactions were in a payout:

1. Go to **Finance > Payouts**.
2. Click the **Payout ID**.

[Transactions](/finance/management-and-reporting/transactions.md) opens filtered to that payout, so you can see which transactions were included.

### Example

Your bank shows a $1,250 deposit on May 16. In Payouts, find the **Net revenue** credit for $1,250 on that date, then click its **Payout ID** to see the transactions it included.

## Net and Gross Deposits

Accounts use net deposits by default.

* **Net deposits:** One **Net revenue** credit. Anedot fees are taken out before the transfer, so the deposit is what you keep.
* **Gross deposits:** A **Gross revenue** credit for the full amount, plus a separate **Anedot fees** debit.
* **Vendor fees:** With either option, vendor fees from [Billing Agreements](/settings/finance/billing-agreements.md) show as a separate **Vendor fees** debit on the same transfer.

Gross deposits are available by request through Support. The **Gross Deposits** and **Monthly Reconcile** options only appear for users Anedot has enabled. To use gross deposits, contact our Support team.

## Returned and Rejected Transfers

A transfer can fail if the bank account details are wrong or the bank sends the payout back. When that happens:

* The money is credited back to your Anedot balance. It isn't lost.
* If a payout is fully returned, the transfer is declined.
* All Admin Users on your account get an email. There's no setting to turn it off.
  * **Anedot: Transfer declined** usually means the routing number or bank account number is invalid.
  * **Anedot: Transfer rejected** can mean the routing number or bank account number is invalid, or the bank account needs updates. Contact our Support team.

Check your bank account details in [Bank Accounts](/settings/finance/bank-accounts.md). If you need help, contact our Support team.

## Troubleshooting

* **Finance > Payouts is disabled in the menu.**\
  Your role doesn't have **Transactions: View permissions**. Ask an Admin User on your account to update your role.
* **I see two lines for one deposit.**\
  This is expected with gross deposits, vendor fees, or conduit funds. Each line is a separate payout from the same transfer.
* **My deposit is smaller than my donations.**\
  Anedot fees, vendor fees, refunds, and chargebacks lower the amount transferred. Click the **Payout ID** to open Transactions filtered to that payout and see which transactions were included.
* **"No payouts yet"**\
  Payouts appear after your first transfer is sent.

If the issue continues, contact our Support team.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.anedot.com/finance/management-and-reporting/payouts.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
