# Account Security Updates

Anedot requires a verified email and a strong password. Sign-in uses email verification codes as multi-factor authentication for login and password changes.

Anedot requires a **verified email** and a **strong password** to access fundraising accounts. Sign-in uses **email verification codes** as multi-factor authentication so only someone who can access your email can complete login or password changes.

### Automatic Sign-Out

To protect financial account information, Anedot signs you out automatically.

* Your sign-in token lasts about 1 hour.
* An inactive session ends after 2 hours.
* Every session ends 12 hours after you sign in, even if you stay active.

Sign in again when your session ends.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Users must have access to the email address associated with their login. If you do not, an account Admin must invite you as a new user. See [Invite a user](/settings/access/users.md#invite-a-user) in Users.
{% endhint %}

## Verify Your Email & Update Password

Use these steps if you are prompted to verify your email or update your password when signing in.

### Step 1: Sign In

1. Go to [anedot.com/login](https://anedot.com/login)
2. On the **Sign in to your account** page, enter your **Email** and **Password**
3. Click **Sign in**
4. If you see **"Invalid input: User does not exist"**, use [Create account](#create-an-account)
5. If you don't know your password or are asked to update it, click **Forgot password?** and continue with Step 2

The sign-in page also shows **Sign in with passkey**, **Continue with Google**, **Continue with SSO** and **Email me a sign-in code**.

Google Sign In is only available for Gmail users.

### Step 2: Reset Your Password

1. On the **Reset your password** page, enter your **Email**. If you are on the sign-in page instead, click **Forgot password?** to get there.
2. Click **Send reset email**
3. On the **Check your email** screen, click **Enter reset code**
4. Enter the 6-digit **Password reset code** from the email
5. Enter a **New password** that meets these rules:
   * At least 8 characters
   * 1 uppercase letter
   * 1 lowercase letter
   * 1 number
   * 1 symbol
   * No spaces at the start or end
6. Enter the same password in **Confirm password**
7. Click **Update password**

{% hint style="info" %}
If you requested more than one reset email, use the code from the newest one. Codes from earlier emails no longer work.
{% endhint %}

You are redirected to the Sign In page.

### Step 3: Complete Login

1. On the **Sign in to your account** page, enter your **Email** and your new **Password**
2. Click **Sign in**

Email verification and password reset are complete, and you reach your fundraising account(s).

## Create An Account

Use this if login shows **"Invalid input: User does not exist"** (email not yet verified for the current sign-in flow), or when you need to create a login for the first time.

1. Go to [anedot.com/login](https://anedot.com/login)
2. Click **Create account** (next to "Don't have an account?")
3. Enter the **same email** associated with your fundraising account(s)
4. Create a password meeting the requirements above
5. Confirm password → **Sign up**
6. Enter the 6-digit verification code from email
7. Click **Confirm account**

Your fundraising data is not lost. This step verifies email and sets your password.

## Reset Your Password (After Initial Update)

Use after email is verified and you already completed the initial password update. If you have not completed that yet, use [Verify your email & update password](#verify-your-email--update-password) first.

1. Go to [anedot.com/login](https://anedot.com/login)
2. Click **Forgot password?** to open the **Reset your password** page
3. Enter your **Email** and click **Send reset email**
4. On the **Check your email** screen, click **Enter reset code**
5. Enter the 6-digit **Password reset code** from the email
6. Fill in **New password** and **Confirm password**, then click **Update password**. Your password needs at least 8 characters with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a symbol, and it can't start or end with a space.
7. Sign in with your email and new password

{% hint style="info" %}
Only the code from your newest reset email works. If you clicked **Send reset email** more than once, use the code from the latest email.
{% endhint %}

## Troubleshooting

### "Invalid input: User does not exist"

The email used for your fundraising account is not yet verified on the current login. Create a login with that same email ([Create account](#create-an-account)). Data is not lost.

### I Do Not Have Access to the Email I Used to Log in

You need access to that email for multi-factor authentication. Ask an Admin to invite you with an email you can access. See [Invite a user](/settings/access/users.md#invite-a-user) in Users.

### I'm Not Receiving the Verification Code

1. Check spam/junk. Codes come from **<noreply@anedot.com>**
2. Click **Resend Code**
3. Contact [Anedot Support](https://www.anedot.com/getsupport)

# Agent Instructions
This documentation is published with GitBook. GitBook is the documentation platform designed so that both humans and AI agents can read, navigate, and reason over technical content effectively. Learn more at gitbook.com.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.anedot.com/get-started/security/account-security-updates.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
