# Bank Accounts

Connect a bank account with Plaid, set a deposit schedule, choose a default account, and replace or remove bank accounts in Settings > Finance > Bank Accounts.

**Bank accounts** are where Anedot deposits your donations. Each Fund pays out to one bank account, and each bank account has its own deposit schedule. You manage them in **Settings > Finance > Bank Accounts**. This article covers how to connect a bank account, set its deposit schedule, choose a default, and replace or remove a bank account.

## Before You Begin

* To manage bank accounts, you need **Account Management: Edit Bank Accounts** permissions.
* Have your online banking sign-in ready, or your account and routing numbers if your bank verifies with a micro-deposit.

## Connect A Bank Account

To connect a bank account:

1. Go to **Settings > Finance > Bank Accounts**.
2. Click **Connect bank**.
3. Search for your bank in the Plaid window and select it.
4. Follow the Plaid prompts to sign in to your bank and choose the account to connect.
5. In the bank account details, enter an optional **Nickname**.
6. Choose a **Deposit Schedule**: **Every 2 days**, **Weekly**, or **Monthly**.
7. (Optional) Select **Set as default** to make this your default bank account.
8. Click **Save**.

The bank account appears in your list with its **Funds**, **Bank**, **Schedule**, **Last Transfer**, and **Next Transfer**.

{% hint style="info" %}
If Plaid verifies your account with a micro-deposit instead of your online banking sign-in, enter the code from the $0.01 deposit. See [Verify a Bank Account with Plaid Micro-Deposit](/get-started/apply-for-an-account/verify-a-bank-account-with-plaid-micro-deposit.md).
{% endhint %}

If you can't connect your bank through Plaid, contact our Support team at <help@anedot.com>.

## Default Bank Account

Your first bank account is always the default. To change it, open another bank account, select **Set as default**, and click **Save**.

## Use More Than One Bank Account

To deposit some donations into a different bank account:

1. Go to **Settings > Finance > Bank Accounts** and connect the second bank account.
2. Go to **Settings > Finance > Funds**.
3. Create or open a Fund and choose the second bank account for it.

Donations to that Fund are deposited into that bank account. See [Funds](/settings/finance/funds.md).

## Change A Deposit Schedule

To change a deposit schedule:

1. Go to **Settings > Finance > Bank Accounts**.
2. Click the bank account.
3. Choose a new **Deposit Schedule**.
4. Click **Save**.

## Replace A Bank Account

Replacing moves a bank account's deposits and Fund assignments to another bank account you've already connected.

To replace a bank account:

1. Go to **Settings > Finance > Bank Accounts** and connect the new bank account first.
2. Click the bank account you want to replace.
3. Click **Replace**.
4. Choose the **Replacement account**.
5. Click **Replace** to confirm.

## Remove A Bank Account

To remove a bank account:

1. Go to **Settings > Finance > Bank Accounts**.
2. Click the bank account.
3. Click **Remove**.
4. Click **Remove Bank** to confirm.

You can't remove your default bank account, or a bank account that Funds or pending deposits still depend on. Move its Funds to another bank account or use **Replace** first.

{% hint style="info" %}
You can't update the account or routing number on a connected bank account. Connect the new account instead, then use **Replace**.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.anedot.com/settings/finance/bank-accounts.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
