# Billing Agreements

Create, edit, and terminate Billing Agreements in Settings > Finance so a vendor can collect an agreed markup on donations to your Anedot Action Pages.

A **Billing Agreement** lets another Anedot account, usually a vendor such as a consultant or agency, collect a markup on donations made to your Action Pages. You create and manage agreements in **Settings > Finance > Billing Agreements**, and each one applies to the Action Pages you choose. This article covers who can manage agreements, and how to create, edit, and terminate one.

## Before You Begin

* Billing Agreements are available on Anedot Pro. If **Billing Agreements** is marked as a Pro feature in your Settings menu, contact our Support team at <help@anedot.com>.
* To view agreements, you need **Billing Agreements: View** permissions.
* To create, edit, or terminate agreements, you need **Billing Agreements: Edit** permissions. The built-in **Owner** and **Super Admin** permission sets include it. **Admin** does not. See [Permission Sets](/settings/access/permission-sets.md).
* Get the vendor's account ID. It's the ID after `/accounts/` in the web address when the vendor is signed in to their account.

## Agreement Types

* **Markup:** The vendor automatically receives a percentage of each donation on the associated Action Pages.
* **Offline:** Tracks a billing relationship you handle outside Anedot. It has no markup rate.

## Create A Billing Agreement

To create a Billing Agreement:

1. Go to **Settings > Finance > Billing Agreements**.
2. Click **New Billing Agreement**.
3. Choose a **Type**: **Markup** or **Offline**.
4. Enter a **Name**.
5. Under **Connected Account**, choose the vendor, or choose **Enter account UID** and enter the vendor's **Account UID**.
6. For a Markup agreement, enter the **Markup rate**. It must be more than 0 and no more than 95, with up to two decimal places.
7. For a Markup agreement, set the options:
   * **Refund markup when refunding:** Returns the markup when you refund a donation. This is on by default.
   * **Include subsequent recurring transactions:** Applies the markup to later payments on recurring donations.
   * **Exclude external funds in vendor fee collection:** Leaves out donations to Funds from connected accounts.
8. (Optional) Enter **Additional Terms** to share with the vendor.
9. Under **Associated Action Pages**, choose the Action Pages the agreement applies to.
10. Click **Create Agreement**.

The agreement is active right away. Its markup applies to new donations on the associated Action Pages. Creating an agreement also connects your account with the vendor's account.

{% hint style="info" %}
You can select **Set as account-wide default** instead of choosing pages. The agreement then applies to every current and future Action Page until you change it or terminate it. Anedot does not recommend account-wide agreements, and the markups from more than one account-wide agreement add together on the same donation.
{% endhint %}

## View Or Edit a Billing Agreement

The Billing Agreements list shows each agreement's **Name**, **Recipient**, **Pages**, and **Rate**. It includes agreements where you pay a markup and agreements where you receive one.

To edit a Billing Agreement:

1. Go to **Settings > Finance > Billing Agreements**.
2. Click the agreement.
3. Update the **Name** or the **Associated Action Pages**.
4. Click **Save**.

The type, markup rate, and options can't be changed. To change them, create a new agreement and terminate the old one.

## Terminate A Billing Agreement

To terminate a Billing Agreement:

1. Go to **Settings > Finance > Billing Agreements**.
2. Click the agreement.
3. Click **Terminate Agreement**.
4. Confirm.

The markup stops applying to new donations on the associated Action Pages.

## Cloning Action Pages

When you clone an Action Page, its Billing Agreements carry over to the new page. Users without **Billing Agreements: View** permissions can't clone Action Pages. See [Create, Edit, and Clone](/action-pages/action-page-basics/create-edit-and-clone.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.anedot.com/settings/finance/billing-agreements.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
