# Pausing Your Account

Pause your Anedot fundraising account for a short break in Settings > Other Actions > Pause Account, learn what pausing turns off, and unpause when ready.

**Pausing** your fundraising account turns off all of your Action Pages, pauses all charges, including commitments, and stops deposits to your bank account until you unpause it. Pausing is meant for short breaks of six months or less. You'll find it in **Settings > Other Actions > Pause Account**. This article covers what pausing affects, how to prepare, and how to pause and unpause your account.

## Before You Begin

* To pause or unpause, you need **Account Management: Edit Account Details and Configuration** permissions.
* If your account has an available balance, contact our Support team at <help@anedot.com> before you pause so we can transfer your remaining funds. You can still pause with a balance, but it won't be deposited while the account is paused.
* For a break longer than six months, contact our Support team first. Closing the account may be the better option. See [Account Closure](/settings/other-actions/account-closure.md).

## What Happens When You Pause

* **Action Pages are disabled:** Donors can't open or give through your Action Pages.
* **All charges are paused:** No charges are made while the account is paused, including commitments.
* **Fund transfers stop:** Available funds aren't deposited to your bank account while the account is paused.

The pause takes effect right away and stays on until you unpause. Pauses don't end automatically.

## Pause Your Account

To pause your account:

1. Go to **Settings > Other Actions > Pause Account**.
2. Enter a **Reason** for the pause.
3. Click **Pause Account**.

The page shows that the account is paused.

## Unpause Your Account

To unpause your account:

1. Go to **Settings > Other Actions > Pause Account**.
2. Click **Unpause Account**.

Your account returns to active status right away. Action Pages that were turned off by the account pause come back on. Pages you paused yourself before pausing the account stay paused.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.anedot.com/settings/other-actions/pausing-your-account.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
